Last night we had a nice dinner with Judy from Adelaide, Australia and Hans from Cologne, Germany. We headed to bed about 9pm, but it was a horrible night. We shared a room with 14 others, most of whom snored, talked in their sleep, or passed gas all night. Casey slept only an hour or two and I got none at all. Finally at 4am we decided to get up and start walking since we weren’t sleeping anyway. We made good time and were in Ponferada before dawn where we passed the impressive Templar castle. We stopped for our ritual cafe con leche and slice of tortilla in Columbrianos about 8am. Our goal was Cacabelos for lunch and then on to Villafranca. Unfortunately Casey has developed blisters so we have decided to stop in Cacabelos – still 23k or 14 miles isn’t too bad.
